Classic Land Rover parked among the Chianti Classico vines
How It Began

An idea born
at a dinner table

Chianti Vintage Expeditions was born out of years of hosting guests at Villa Bordoni — one of Greve in Chianti's most beloved small hotels — and listening to what people truly wanted when they came to this part of Tuscany.

They didn't want a coach tour. They didn't want a schedule measured in minutes. They wanted to arrive at a winery as a friend might arrive — welcomed, unhurried, invited to stay a little longer. They wanted the roads less taken, the villages where life still moves at the pace of the seasons.

The vintage Land Rover was the natural answer: a vehicle with character, built for exactly these roads, carrying no more guests than could fit around a dinner table. The rest — the wineries, the villages, the long lunches — came from years of knowing this landscape as home.

Our Philosophy

Small group. Deep experience.
No compromises.

Intimacy

A maximum of six guests means every tour is, in effect, a private experience. We move at your pace. We stop when something catches your eye.

Authenticity

We work with family producers who open their doors not for volume, but for the pleasure of sharing their work with people who appreciate it.

The Long View

This landscape has been shaped by generations of careful stewardship. We tell that story — with respect for the land and the people who tend it.

Our Heritage

Born from the magical
world of Villa Bordoni

Chianti Vintage Expeditions grew from two decades of welcoming guests at one of Chianti's most beloved historic properties — home also to the restaurant Il Guardingo and the Chianti Cooking School. The same love of people and place, the same devotion to detail and personal attention, runs through every tour we lead. We do not simply show you our landscape — we invite you into it. The eternal beauty of this land and its culture is our greatest inheritance, and sharing it, genuinely, is our purpose.

The Table

Il Guardingo —
Osteria nel Chianti

Perched above Greve, Il Guardingo is Villa Bordoni's restaurant — a proper Tuscan osteria where the cooking is rooted in the land just outside the window. The menu changes with the seasons, the wine list favours the valley, and lunch is never rushed.

The same table that inspires our tours. The same honest connection between what the land produces and what ends up in the glass — or on the plate.

The Kitchen

The Chianti
Cooking School

In the professional kitchen at Villa Bordoni — Molteni block, Carrara marble surfaces, the smell of soffritto in the air — the Chianti Cooking School has been teaching the fundamentals of Tuscan cooking since 2008.

Hands-on, unhurried, and always followed by eating what you've made. The same spirit that drives our tours: slow down, pay attention, and let the landscape teach you something.
